SOUTH 2 -- Last night was an epic battle for first place in the Classic League. Custom Design squared off against their most familiar rival Bud Light/Braun’s Distributing. The meetings would be the 9th & 10th all time against the 2 coed powers. In the top of the first of Game 1, Team CD started with their normal borage of runs and put up an 11 spot on Bud Light. After Andrew, the first batter of the night grounded out, Team CD proceeded to bat through the order. Going into the 3rd inning CD had built up a 16-0 lead but some bad hops here and a few errors there and Bud Light had got 5 on the board. But Custom Design decided to quit playing around and put up a 5 runs of their own in the top of the 5 and sealed the 21-7 victory.
Game 2 started much like the 2nd game of last week with Bud Light out to an early 1-0 lead. But Team CD came up with 5 of their own runs in the bottom of the 1st and never looked back. Heidi Danbom finished the game up with her first game winning hit & RBI to lead CD to a 12-2 win. The win was Custom Design's 9th in a row dating back to last year, breaking their old winning streak of 8 in ’05. There wasn’t any “great plays” last night, but as normal this year Team CD was solid in the field. Once again Megan McLeod and Crystal Ensign were rocks at the corners. Heidi Danbom made a few goods plays at 2nd but was defiantly the defensive player of the night catching 3 or 4 pop-flys in left field. Chris & Jay both had nice line drive catches while pitching as well as Andrew at short and Andy Murphy making his 2nd base debut. And Katie called a nice game behind the plate. Custom Design is now 7-3 all-time against Bud Light, and 6-0 in the last 6 meetings. Last night’s game was CD’s 17th & 18th games at South 2 all time, with Custom Design being victorious 15 times and defeated 3.
Here's a little Custom Design's Believe it or Not: Last night we defeated Bud Light on South 2 by a combined score of 33-9. A year ago from today(6/21/07) we played Bud Light on the same field and defeated them by a combined score of 34-9.
Next week we take on the Pit Stop at South 2. We’re taking our team picture for the year so wear black shorts, black socks and bring your hats.
