Custom Design Keeps Rollin' Sweeps RoughRider
6.14.07
SOUTH 5 -- Custom Design kept their hot bats goin', as they swept the RoughRider Rv's 9-4 & 8-3. In game 1 CD scored 5 runs in the top of the first. In the top of the 2nd Andrew DesRosier came around for an Inside the Park home run to give CD a comfortable 6-0 lead. From there on it was solid defense for the CDer's to close out the 9-4 win. The play of game 1 was with 0 outs and an RV's runner on 2nd. Murph caught a fly ball and the runner at 2nd thought it was about to drop, caught off guard he tried to scurry back to 2nd. Andy Murphy riffled it to 2nd Baseman Heidi Danbom(making her first start since '05, thanks to a lil' guy named Tyler), but the throw was horribly low. So Danbom used her 1st Baseman's skills and scooped the ball up for an excellent double play. At the plate everyone was solid, capped by Megan's RBI double over the left fielders head. I would also like to give myself the good hussle award, for the sprawling diving near catch I had. I hadn't got that much air since I flew cross-country last week to and from NC.

Game 2 was an enjoyable game for CD as they had to come from behind for the first time this year to get the victory. Jay Danbom got the start at pitcher for the first time this year, and looked a little rusty in the top of the 1st giving up 1 run. Then in the Bottom of the 3rd right after Megan drove in Crystal to tie the score, Danbom helped out his own cause by hitting a 3 run inside the park homer. Defense was the #1 reason Danbom chalked up his first win of the year. Megan McLeod was a rock at third making about a million put outs. And Crystal Ensign was just as solid on the other corner at first. Both players defense was key to a Custom Design sweep. It must also be said that Crystal had an excellent double over the head of the left-center fielders head, but Danbom and Herold were to greedy and sent CD Speedster A-Books home all the way from first but was gunned down at home to end the inning.

Next week Custom Design go up against Friends and Rivals Bud Light to determine who will take sole position of first place in the Classic League.
